Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about legality, pricing, language and payment.

Is adult nightlife legal in Fukuoka for foreign visitors?
Yes — venues registered under Japan's Adult Entertainment Business Law (fūeihō) operate legally, and adults 18+ including foreign visitors can use them. Japan After Dark lists registered, non-service-limited venues only; that is our single listing rule.
Do I need to speak Japanese?
No. Use the “English OK” filter to find venues with English-speaking staff. For any venue, the free Contact Kit writes a polite Japanese inquiry message for you, shows taxi and door cards in Japanese, and can speak key phrases out loud.
How much does a night cost in Nakasu or Tenjin?
Venues on Japan After Dark display one total price up front — typically ¥16,000–¥28,000 depending on the venue — with no hidden fees. Venues with the “Same price for everyone” badge charge foreign visitors exactly what locals pay.
Can I pay by credit card?
Many venues accept cards, and every listing shows its payment methods. If a venue is cash-only, its card shows the nearest 24-hour convenience-store ATM and the walking time to reach it.
How do I book a venue through Japan After Dark?
You don't — Japan After Dark is an information and advertising service and takes no bookings, referrals or commissions. You contact venues directly (the Contact Kit makes this easy), and the “Available tonight” signal shows which venues report space right now.
Is Nakasu safe at night?
Nakasu is a busy, well-lit entertainment district. The practical rules: choose registered venues, confirm the total price before you enter, and politely ignore street touts (“catch”) — legitimate venues don't need them. All venues listed here are registered and show total pricing.
